About this dive site
Cold-water colour, octopuses, anemones and kelp on rugged walls.
Browning Pass near Port Hardy floods with nutrients, painting walls in white plumose anemones, nudibranchs and wolf eels among bull kelp. Octopus, lingcod and sea lions appear on luckier days in these current-fed channels. Drysuits, good buoyancy and tide-aware local skippers are part of the package.
Wall and drift dives need a tide- or current-aware briefing; the same site can feel gentle or brisk on another day. Calendar peak is May - September, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Browning Pass day to day, not just the map pin.
