Hawaii’s signature manta night dive on a volcanic slope.
Garden Eel Cove (Manta Village) gathers divers after dark while lights on the sand draw plankton, and feeding reef mantas that loop inches overhead. It is one of the most reliable manta encounters in the Pacific when seas are calm. Stay seated or kneeling in the guide’s zone and avoid chasing animals.
Night dives need familiar kit, good buoyancy and a guide who knows the site's hazards after dark. Calendar peak is January - December, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Kona day to day, not just the map pin.
