About this dive site

Andaman pinnacle with manta and whale shark potential.

Eight Mile Rock is a submerged granite dome between Koh Lipe and Langkawi that draws mantas and whale sharks when upwellings and plankton align. Depth and current make it a step up from Lipe's relaxed inshore reefs. National park rules and seasonal closures affect combined Similan-Lipe trips.

Open-water and liveaboard schedules hinge on swell and current - expect early starts and flexible routing. Calendar peak is November - April, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Koh Lipe day to day, not just the map pin.
