About this dive site

A WWII Italian freighter frozen in time near Wingate Reef.

The Umbria was scuttled in 1940 with bombs and Fiat cars still in the holds. Sudan liveaboards tie up for multi-penetration dives when conditions allow; mantas and sharks appear on nearby Sanganeb and Sha’ab Rumi.

Match wreck depth - and any penetration - to your training; many famous wrecks are enjoyed from the outside only. Calendar peak is November - May, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Sudan day to day, not just the map pin.
