About this dive site

Sumatra's gateway reef with clear water and passing megafauna.

Pulau Weh at the mouth of the Malacca Strait mixes easy house reefs with occasional manta or whale shark passages on luckier days. Laid-back stays in Iboih or Gapang pair diving with jungle hikes. It is Indonesia without the Bali crowds, simple lodges and friendly boats.

Wall and drift dives need a tide- or current-aware briefing; the same site can feel gentle or brisk on another day. Calendar peak is October - May, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Pulau Weh day to day, not just the map pin.
