About this dive site

Glacial clarity between continents in a rift of lava rock.

Silfra’s filtered spring water offers surreal visibility as you fin between the North American and Eurasian plates in Thingvellir National Park. Cathedral and Silfra Hall are geologic dives first, algae greens and blue voids rather than coral cities. Arctic char may enter the fissure in late summer; drysuit training and cold-water comfort are essential.

Cold, clear water and drysuit comfort matter as much as viz - book with an operator used to the site. Calendar peak is January - December, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Silfra Fissure day to day, not just the map pin.
