About this dive site
A South Pass famous for grey reef sharks in clear lagoon water.
Tumakohua Pass in Fakarava South channels thousands of grey reef sharks on incoming tides, often called one of the world’s great shark dives. Shallow coral gardens and Tetamanu village add relaxed second dives with turtles and reef fish. Liveaboards and land-based operators both use the pass on schedule.
Most trips target January - December, but wind, swell and current still decide the day's site. Calendar peak is January - December, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Fakarava day to day, not just the map pin.
