About this dive site

Indian Ocean reef walls, turtles and reef sharks off a volcanic island coast.

Saint-Leu sits on Réunion’s sheltered west coast, where operators run reef and drop-off dives on lava rock and coral patches. Green and hawksbill turtles feed on the reef, while whitetip reef sharks and large fish patrol the blue. Current and surge vary with swell, so site choice and timing matter. Réunion’s shark-risk management rules apply island-wide: follow the official guidance, dive only with licensed operators and respect any seasonal or site restrictions in force on the day.

Most trips target May - November, but wind, swell and current still decide the day's site. Calendar peak is May - November, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Réunion day to day, not just the map pin.
