About this dive site
Red Sea liveaboard maze of tunnels, gorgonians and sharks.
St John's Reef south of Marsa Alam is a cluster of reefs with caves, overhangs and gorgonian fans where grey reef sharks cruise the blue. Most diving is from week-long safaris rather than day boats. Each pinnacle has a name and personality, Habili Ali, St John's Caves and more.
Shore sites reward repeat dives at the same entry marker; check swell, surf and exit points before you kit up. Calendar peak is March - November, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows St John's Reef day to day, not just the map pin.
