About this dive site
One of the planet’s classic hammerhead seamount dives.
Bajo Alcyone off Cocos Island is a submerged ridge where scalloped hammerheads school above the plateau in staggering numbers when conditions align. Whitetip reef sharks rest on the rock, and manta rays occasionally glide through. Remote passage, deep profiles and strong flow demand appropriate experience and a quality liveaboard.
Open-water and liveaboard schedules hinge on swell and current - expect early starts and flexible routing. Calendar peak is June - November, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Cocos Island day to day, not just the map pin.
