About this dive site

Whitetip reef sharks and turtles around a Pacific island reserve.

Boat trips from Drake Bay reach Isla del Caño Biological Reserve, where volcanic rock and patches of reef support schooling fish, resting whitetip reef sharks and sea turtles. Sheltered routes such as El Ancla differ from the deeper, current-exposed pinnacles, so match the itinerary to your qualification. Reserve access is controlled and operators choose sites for the day’s conditions. Keep buoyancy clear of coral and let wildlife move freely.

Most trips target January - December, but wind, swell and current still decide the day's site. Calendar peak is January - December, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Caño Island day to day, not just the map pin.
