About this dive site
Caribbean reef sharks and coral scenery off Colombia’s island outpost.
Providencia sits in Colombia’s western Caribbean island archipelago, with boat diving on coral reefs, slopes and walls. Caribbean reef sharks are documented around the island by the Important Shark and Ray Areas project, while local centres explore a wider variety of reef life. Depth and exposure vary significantly between sites. Ask for an itinerary suited to your certification, maintain a clear depth limit beside the walls and choose wildlife observation that does not rely on feeding or handling animals.
Wall and drift dives need a tide- or current-aware briefing; the same site can feel gentle or brisk on another day. Calendar peak is January - December, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Providencia day to day, not just the map pin.
