About this dive site
Remote Colombian seamounts with hammerheads and silky sharks.
Malpelo Island is a basalt fortress in the eastern Pacific, reachable only by liveaboard from Colombia or Panama. Deep walls and cleaning stations draw scalloped hammerheads, silkies and dense schools of pelagics. Cold thermoclines and serious current define this advanced expedition.
Open-water and liveaboard schedules hinge on swell and current - expect early starts and flexible routing. Calendar peak is January - May, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Malpelo Island day to day, not just the map pin.
