About this dive site
North of San Pedro where Palmero Cut opens into fish-filled coral grooves.
Palmero Canyons and Palmero Cut sit on the barrier reef north of San Pedro, between Mexico Rocks and Bacalar Chico territory. The grooves hold horse-eye jacks, snappers and the occasional reef shark while elkhorn and brain coral cap the shallows. Boat rides are longer and weather-dependent compared with town moorings.
Palmero is north of town with a longer boat run than in-town moorings; summer calm is best before easterlies chop the ride.
