About this dive site
Great Barrier Reef icon where giant potato cod greet divers.
On the northern Ribbon Reefs, Cod Hole is a regulated feed site for massive potato cod alongside maori wrasse and whitetip sharks. Most visitors arrive on Coral Sea liveaboards out of Cairns or Lizard Island.
Most trips target June - November, but wind, swell and current still decide the day's site. Calendar peak is June - November, but skippers still move sites when wind, swell or current change. Book with a crew that knows Cod Hole day to day, not just the map pin.
